All of John Carpenter’s films can perhaps be divided into stories of either a supernatural force arriving from above, or of a force returning from the past, disentombed from below. Christine, a thriller-horror film about the transformation of a teenager’s identity through his fraught romance with a car, a red 1958 Plymouth Fury, definitely falls into the latter category. This film has what you want: a car cast as a slasher villain, body horror elements explored on the surface of an automobile, Harry Dean Stanton, and another fantastically pulsing, repetitive synthesizer score that’s so crucial to the feel of Carpenter’s films. Come watch pure envy, desire, and drive roll out of a junkyard.
All attendees will receive a little special Valentine’s gift from Christine.
