Alambrista: A Tribute to Grandpa Bob

This February, Robert M. Young, famed American independent filmmaker and grandfather to our friend and From-Below-regular, Holly, passed away at the age of 99. We will be honoring the life and work of Grandpa Bob by screening his Camera de’Or-winning directorial debut, Alambrista (1977). The film follows the odyssey of Roberto (Domingo Ambriz) who has crossed the border to look for work in California. Young wrote, directed, and did the cinematography himself, shooting the film mostly on a handheld camera.
